In March 2026, The University of Chicago honoured eminent Indian economist Dr. Krishnamurthy Venkata (K.V.) Subramanian with the Alumni Award for Professional Achievement, becoming the 1st Indian economist to receive this honor since it was established in 1941
In March 2026, The University of Chicago honoured eminent Indian economist Dr. Krishnamurthy Venkata (K.V.) Subramanian with the Alumni Award for Professional Achievement, becoming the 1st Indian economist to receive this honor since it was established in 1941
- Following this recognition, Subramanian is now among a distinguished group of recipients that includes at least 14 and global leaders such as: Paul Samuelson, Gary Becker, Claudia Goldin, Carl Sagan, among others.
About K.V. Surbramanian:
Previous Role: Subramanian served as Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) to the Government of India (GoI) from 2018 to 2021. Later, he represented India as its Executive Director (ED) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Current Role: Currently, he is serving as a Professor of Finance at the Indian School of Business (ISB).
Author: Apart from a career as distinguished economist, he also authored a book titled ‘India@100’.
