Uttarakhand & Odisha Police Honoured with the Prestigious President’s Police Colours
The President of India Droupadi Murmu approved the conferment of the prestigious President’s Police Colour (Nishaan), the highest national honour for a state police force, on the Uttarakhand Police (2 April 2026) and Odisha Police (30 March 2026) in recognition of their exceptional service, professionalism, and commitment to internal security and public safety.
About Uttarakhand Police:
Award: The Uttarakhand Police was honoured for recognising bravery, discipline, professional excellence, and long-term dedication to the nation during the Silver Jubilee Year of statehood.
Leadership: Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister (CM) Pushkar Singh Dhami and Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth guided the force, which is acknowledged for its service in disaster management, notably the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy, and managing large-scale events like the Maha Kumbh and Char Dham Yatra.
 About Odisha Police:
Award: The Odisha Police was conferred the award for recognising exceptional discipline, service excellence, bravery, professionalism, and long-term institutional contribution, coinciding with the 90th Police Foundation Day (Utkal Divas).
Leadership: Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania and Additional Director General (ADG) Prateek Mohanty led the force, which has been operational since 1936 and is acknowledged for anti-Maoist operations, crime prevention, and citizen-centric initiatives.
