International Nowruz Day 2026 – March 21
The United Nations (UN’s) International Nowruz Day is observed annually across the world on 21 March to promote cultural exchange, peace, solidarity, and good neighbourliness.
Background:
UN Resolution: On 23 February 2010, the UNGA adopted Resolution A/RES/64/253, officially declaring 21 March as International Nowruz Day.
First Celebration: The inaugural International Nowruz Day was celebrated on 21 March 2010.
UNESCO Recognition: Nowruz was inscribed on United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
