Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that the government passed the new atomic energy bill christened SHANTI Bill, 2025, to appease US President Donald Trump. Citing the US National Defence Authorisation Act, he claimed it referred to India-US nuclear liability talks. Ramesh said the Bill was pushed to restore "shanti" (peace) with Trump and called it "TRUMP Act" in Rajya Sabha.
