The Indian Army has placed an order for solar-powered drones worth ₹168 crore for border surveillance. The drones named Medium Altitude Persistent Surveillance System (MAPSS) are fully electric drones that will allow continuous watch for border patrols, artillery spotting, or network extension in communication-denied environments. The drones have been ordered from a Bengaluru-based start-up.
