The National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for non-appearance in a case. The tribunal was hearing a matter regarding the construction of a sewage treatment plant in Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun district. The ministry's non-appearance delayed an appropriate resolution of the environmental issues in the case, NGT said.
