India recorded the largest net outflow of AI authors and inventors in 2025, at -16.9, according to the AI Index 2026 report by Stanford University. Net flow measures the difference between the number of AI professionals moving into and out of a country. The report also noted that India had the world's second-largest pool of AI talent in 2025.
