OpenAI announced that it will be retiring the "voice" feature in the ChatGPT macOS app on January 15, 2026, discontinuing spoken interactions on desktop for Mac users. "This change allows us to focus on more unified and improved voice experiences across our apps," OpenAI said. Voice will continue to be available on the ChatGPT website, iOS, Android, and Windows app.
