World Sparrow Day (WSD) is observed globally on March 20 each year to highlight the alarming decline in sparrow populations, especially the house sparrow (Passer domesticus), and to encourage efforts toward their conservation and the protection of urban biodiversity.

Background:
Origin: WSD was initiated by the Nature Forever Society (NFS), founded by Mohammed Dilawar, in collaboration with the Eco-Sys Action Foundation (France).
